Adults

Adults of all ages can benefit from a neuropsychological evaluation when they have concerns about cognitive and/or emotional functioning. You may request or your treating physician may recommend a neuropsychological evaluation in order to:

  • Facilitate a diagnosis or rule out a suspected condition
  • Differentiate between a cognitive versus psychiatric disorder (both types of disorders can present initially with either cognitive or psychiatric symptoms, or manifest concurrently)
  • Investigate eligibility for school or testing accommodations
  • Determine an optimal treatment plan or other invention
  • Monitor recovery from an acquired injury to the brain (e.g., traumatic brain injury, electrical trauma, tumor, stroke)
  • Monitor the stability, decline or improvement in symptoms of a chronic brain disorder (e.g., Multiple Sclerosis, early onset Dementias)
  • Assess cognitive complaints following a major surgery or chemotherapy, in association with age-related hormonal changes, or a medical disorder (e.g., Diabetes, Lupus, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Meningitis)
  • Guide return to work or inform quality of life decisions following injury or disease onset

We invite you to review the What We Do and What is Neuropsychology? sections for further detail, and to contact us for a consultation to determine whether a neuropsychological evaluation may be helpful to you.
