Clinical Neuropsychologist

Sharlet A. Anderson, Ph.D. is a Clinical Neuropsychologist specializing in neuropsychological assessment of adults with neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and vascular dementia, as well as other neurological medical conditions that affect cognitive functioning such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, and multiple sclerosis. She also has extensive experience in pre- and post-surgical cognitive assessment for deep brain stimulation (DBS) and focused ultrasound (FUS) treatment of movement disorders. Dr. Anderson also performs diagnostic assessments for adults with suspected Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Her training and research experience in social determinants of health and multiculturalism inform her approach to evaluations and recommendations.

Dr. Anderson obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology with concentration in Neuropsychology from Georgia State University. She completed her predoctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at the University of Miami Mailman Center for Child Development and her post-doctoral fellowship in adult Neuropsychology in the Department of Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Before joining Michigan Avenue Neuropsychologists, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Sciences at Rush University Medical School, where she was the Director of the Program of Cognitive and Behavioral Health in Movement Disorders and the chair of the department’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. She has also enjoyed supervising trainees, giving presentations about cognition and mental health to scientific communities and the general public, and running support groups for patients and care partners.
